WHAT MOCHIWELA AIMS TO

To achieve our goal of giving hope to mothers of multiple births, deliveries and their children, we work along these objectives: 

Program strategic objectives:
1. To improve community knowledge around matters relating to sex and sexuality, reproductive health, family planning and multiple pregnancies and births (deliveries) to women and adolescent girls.

2. To promote and improve access to quality maternal and neonate child health (MCH) services including preventing mother to child transmission of HIV, access to family planning and other sexual and reproductive health services among women and adolescent girls.

3. To provide comprehensive care and support services to mothers and their babies of multiple pregnancies and deliveries to enable them attain quality lives and upbringing for the babies.

4. To fight stigma, myths and negative perceptions and practices around multiple pregnancies and deliveries for mothers and their babies born to such pregnancies and deliveries, in order to improve quality of motherhood and child upbringing.

5. To cooperate with other relevant organizations and liaise with the relevant Kenya Government Department ,NGOs in handling the problems of HIV,MNCH, reproductive health and sexuality in women, youth and adolescents and in furtherance of the organization objectives.

6. To strengthen the organization capacity of MOCHIWELLA to effectively deliver on its mandate as a voice to mothers of multiple pregnancies and births and their babies and children.

Program activities:
1. Group and individual counselling sessions provided to women and mothers of multiple pregnancies and deliveries at the resource centre, homes and hospitals.

2. Assisted access to hospital-deliveries for mothers of multiple pregnancies and deliveries from resource constrained households.

3. Family planning, PMTCT and sexual reproductive health clinics for mothers and babies of multiple pregnancies and births at the resource centers and at the community at strategic places.

4. Training of mentor mothers and other MNCH counselors to support better coping for mothers and their babies of multiple pregnancies and deliveries.

5. Dialogue forums with community leaders and other members of the public on multiple pregnancies and deliveries, to improve knowledge, destigmatize and demystify multiple pregnancies and births.

6. Dialogue forums with health professional’s especially nursing fraternity (nurses) on needs of mothers with multiple pregnancies and births to improve communication and support for mothers during hospital visits and delivery.

7. Livelihood support for better household incomes and food security, social safety nets and protection for women and mothers of multiple pregnancies and deliveries, to improve wellbeing and access to basics of life for the mothers and their babies.

8. Provision of subsidies on user-fees for mothers attending antenatal, postnatal and deliveries at the health facilities, to improve hospital based deliveries for resource-constrained mothers with multiple pregnancies and deliveries.

9. Provision of resuscitative nutritional support for malnourished mothers with multiple pregnancies and deliveries in the last trimester and the first one month of delivery.
